Shooting ISO 100 film in winter

Yesterday I uploaded another video to YouTube telling the story of a particularly difficult roll that I shot over the last few weeks, if not even months. I was a bit too optimistic for my own good and loaded ISO 100 film into my Leica in the middle of autumn which is when the weather here gets particularly dark and dismal.  The weather forecast announced 10+ days of rain, but it seems I just didn’t want it to be true! I couldn’t have finished the roll on that day and no other bright days were in sight. Of course the rain lasted, autumn turned into winter and my Leica was virtually unusable because I had the wrong film in there. Oh well! For the whole story and a POV behind the scenes look into the process of shooting these pictures, you can watch the video here:

I’ve also been trying to figure out why YouTube keeps murdering my video quality, although I’m using the optimal export settings for YouTube and it looks so much better before I upload. I asked around among other people who run YT channels and it seems as if the platform cuts down on costs by processing the videos by channels below 1K subscribers with a less processing heavy algorithm that leads to lower quality compression. I’m at around 385 subscribers right now, so I’ll probably have to put up with that low priority treatment for a while longer I’m afraid! However, if you enjoy my videos and haven’t subscribed yet, you can subscribe to my channel here and help me get those pesky technical issues under control! Like I always say in my videos, it really helps me out a lot when you guys subscribe! Thank you for all your wonderful support so far, the response to my point of view photography videos has been great and I’m really happy that you’re enjoying them! I was actually so busy making these videos that I forgot to upload the pictures for the last few POV videos here! I’ll correct that oversight soon!

But enough rambling, let’s get to the pictures already!

All pictures taken with: Leica M6, Voigtländer Nokton 50mm f/1.1, T-Max 100, HC-110.

A few weeks later I finally made an effort to get that ISO 100 film out of my Leica for good, because every time I wanted to shoot it was already dark and I had slow film in the only camera I use for night shooting! I headed out late on that day too, but somehow I managed to finish that roll anyway.

I don’t think I’ve caught the street lights on with ISO 100 film before!
