no fear

At the beginning of each month I always spend a few days editing the pictures of a full month in one go. It was time to get the pictures shot in July out of the way and I’m quite happy with the results actually. Considering how difficult I used to find it to shoot street around here, I’ve actually had a considerable haul of pictures worth printing. I think I’ve finally figured this place out to some extent.

While I was editing the pictures at one point I had a scare. I had a disk error when trying to save one of the files. I do have backups of everything and for all my work since last October I also have negatives to fall back on, so I wasn’t too worried. However, as a part of the digital generation and someone who holds a Robotics degree the thought of my hard drive failing still filled me with dread! The thing is, it wasn’t failing though, it was just full! This means I’ve actually filled 1TB with mostly pictures! A faster 2TB drive is now on its way, and that will keep me going for a while. The 360 rolls on the drive I use now take up 500GB – the rest are older digital pictures -, so the new drive should keep me going for roughly 2 years with my rate of about a roll a day, even if I keep the current drive as it is to have another backup. Problem solved.

Posing for a new profile picture I suppose.

The weather wasn’t fantastic, but around here that’s good enough for the beach anyway.

This is what the beach looks like in summer when it’s empty. When it’s full it’s a veritable obstacle course and packed like a sardine can.

Low tide, but still you can see the “birds” in the water. Surfers obviously.

In full sunlight it needs f/16 … or sunglasses.

This is actually a leftover from another roll that I missed somehow.

  • Nice photos, I recently had to buy a new laptop to get the disc capacity I need for all my photos.

    • Thanks 🙂 I actually have all the photos on an external drive. The internal SSD is too small.
