the stuff of nightmares

Last time I counted I had 37 rolls left to develop. Since then I’ve developed at least 20 rolls, probably more, but somehow I now have 48 rolls left to develop. Either my maths is broken or I might be a little trigger-happy this summer …!

Today I processed the last 4 rolls for this litre of Fuji Hunt chemicals and will have to mix some more tomorrow to continue processing my Argentina pictures. With this I’ve managed to get 18 rolls out of this litre and also these last few rolls scanned well, which means that I’ll maybe try to squeeze 20 rolls out of the next litre. I still have 2 more litres of the Fuji Hunt C41 chemicals and when I’m done with them I will also be done with my Argentina pictures. By then I will also hopefully be finished shooting my E6 rolls so that I can start processing those. And then there is also a whole bunch of Fomapan 400 in need of processing. It should be interesting to see the results.

I’ve also decided which film to test next: It will be Argenti Reporter Film Plus, which is supposedly repackaged Orwo N74+. I already shot a couple of rolls of the Orwo stuff before, so I know what to expect. Lots of gritty style!

All pictures taken with: Leica M6, Zeiss ZM C-Biogon 35mm f/2.8.

5th one down my favourite tonight.

    • Thank you Julia! Your choice surprised me, but I think I see why 🙂

  • Great set, Lilly.

  • Good god Lilly I only shoot about 15 rolls a year and most of them are 120 12 exposures. Still I managed my first stand developed 120 roll in Rodinal last week, next time I will start at 19/20c and then stick it in the fridge.:)

    • Oh wow, that’s really not a lot. I’m kinda the opposite. I think this year I might be at around a roll a day. But then I shoot film exclusively and a lot of street which wastes film like crazy. Well done on the Rodinal. I think the optimal temperature for Rodinal is 18c. It starts to get very slow below that I think. All my winter rolls from years ago were all really thin, must have been at around 15-16c. Since I normally use Rodinal for pushing I use it at 20c und then ignore any rise in temperature.

      • I am a lazy photographer Lilly, thanks for the temperature advice on the Rodinal I used a constant 19c (weather) and it worked really well for me so your advice makes good sense.

        • Nevertheless, with stand development ultimately the Rodinal is much less sensitive to temperature difference. You only need to adjust your times if you’re 5 degrees off. One or two degrees don’t seem to make much of a difference. Caffenol is very different there. With Caffenol as much as one or two degrees can really affect the amount of grain you’re getting.
