I’ve been meaning to get out with my Rolleicord for a while, but then I’ve been playing with my Canon Sureshot WP-1 and I got somewhat distracted. Today I took the Rollei for a walk in the park though and played with some Rollei CR200 E6 film. It’s still going to be a while until I develop these rolls, but first I have to shoot enough E6 to warrant mixing up the E6 kit.
Today I have also developed my kids-jumping-over-fire pictures and the light meter definitely tricked me a little. I haven’t scanned them yet, but from what I can see with the naked eye I don’t believe that there will be many keepers, because I mainly got perfectly exposed fires with underexposed surroundings. I guess it’s as always with the light meters: Precisely in those situations where they could really be helpful, they fail miserably. In all other situations I’m perfectly fine guesstimating with initial metering for reference. And sadly I don’t get to shoot fires nearly often enough to really get the hang of metering or guesstimating them properly. But well, this is how experiments go …! You win some, you lose others.
