slightly lost

I only have 2 rolls of 35mm left, the next shipment arrives only in a week and I’m not shooting any digital until I reach the end of my editing queue. This means that today I was actually out running errands without a camera. After all medium format cameras are a little cumbersome to operate while running errands! Being out there without a camera definitely made me notice how very uncomfortable I feel when I walk through a crowd without taking pictures.

When you’re taking pictures you’re not really there. You’re slightly removed from whatever is happening around you and the camera somehow acts like a shield. It’s a way of letting things not get to you as much. This can be a bad thing, but I guess with certain attitudes on the street on very crowded summer days like these it’s actually quite alright to have a shield like that.

Just a few more days worth of digital pictures to edit and I will get my shield back.

All pictures taken with: Olympus Pen E-PL3 and Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 ASPH.
