sisters

For now this will be my last post with pictures from Düsseldorf. More of those when I return to Düsseldorf at the beginning of next month. Most of these were taken while walking from the main station to the old city where I took the Zorki pictures of the last post. Three of them were taken a couple of days before that when we went to a cinema in Bilk to see “her” and ended up watching “a long way down” in a completely different cinema in the old town. I have to admit that I neither knew of the existence of this cinema nor of the strange little courtyard in which it is located. A bit embarrassing I have to say, because I lived in Düsseldorf for a long time and always loved going to the cinema. It’s rather hidden there, I have to say.

All pictures taken with: Olympus Pen E-PL3 and Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 ASPH.

This young man is wearing the traditional costume of the craftsman on the “waltz”. Traditionally craftsmen were required to spend three years on the road after their apprenticeship, learning new techniques and seeing new places. It was a requirement for becoming a master craftsman. Nowadays it’s not a requirement anymore and by far not as popular as it used to be, but occasionally you still see a craftsman on the waltz.

Now, what’s wrong with this picture? A hint: Count the fingers. Mutants …!

The sign says something like: “No glasses are as great as needing no glasses”. Catching this modern day pirate with bandages over one eye certainly made me chuckle. Shame that he didn’t turn around though.

Wrong part of Germany? The Ampelmännchen on her t-shirt is more of an East German thing.

Taken while we were trying to go to the cinema. After finding out that the movie we wanted to see was sold out, we went to a different cinema to see a different movie. We went together with a friend of mine who we randomly met there because she wanted to see the sold out movie as well. These kinds of random encounters don’t usually happen to me and I was rather pleased about it!
