For a few years I didn’t have any reason to visit Neuss, where I finished high school. During my stay in the Düsseldorf area last week I actually had to run errands in Neuss though and therefore walked through the city centre. Neuss is one of those strange places where rich people meet social misfits on a daily basis. Occasionally while I was still living in the area, I actually wondered whether the whole city was plain crazy, because the city centre seemed full of shopping cart pushing lunatics, drug addicts and drunkards, while the rest of the population consisted of unbearably conservative rich people who seem equally crazy in a different way. Well, after quite a number of years of not having seen the city centre I can safely say that Neuss hasn’t changed much. Although the city hasn’t become any more appealing to me, it actually isn’t a bad place for street photography though.
All pictures taken with: Olympus Pen E-PL3 and Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 ASPH.
Provincial fashion statements.
The thing in the window is so 80s!
He looked like someone had punched him in the face.
Encounter outside the hairdresser. Reminds me of quite a number of papers that I read during my time studying Cultural Studies at university.
Note the jumper and the bag. Someone sure likes dogs.
I can’t help finding this picture slightly creepy. The boy on the right doesn’t seem to have a head …
Toothache?
Apparently the little girl dropped a bag of lego.
Globalisation. By the way, I’d say I know quite a number of people who wouldn’t admit to be buying in a place like kik.
That kid will have “wonderful” eating habits as an adult …! In the background you can see a sign of the rather conservative party that fits rather well with the political opinions of the population. Their politics are the main driving force behind the appalling situation in southern Europe.
Strange way of carrying your child. On the shoulders I would understand, but on the head?
Now, that looks more like good food.
Taking pictures of people vs mannequins is one of those things I can’t resist. One of them doesn’t have a torso, the other doesn’t have any legs and yet they don’t fit together either. This was taken while passing on the tram by the way.
I’m a new follower, like your photos, do you take them “incognito”? (From the hip) or not?
Yeah, but the one on the right looks lifelike, though.
Ganz tolle Fotos dabei 🙂
