A couple of weeks ago I went to the Universität der Künste to hand in my portfolio. Of course I took some pictures in the building and in the surroundings. This student is waiting for the elevator.

This is the huge light hallway. It sure has style!

The entrance/exit. I hate revolving doors. They always make me feel slightly claustrophobic.

There were so many people applying that I saw people with portfolios several blocks away. Oh well, I’m not really expecting any favourable outcome, so it didn’t really freak me out. I bet that people who applied with higher expectations could have been quite thrown off by it.

All pictures taken with my Canon EOS 450D and my Canon EF 50mm f/1.4.

Yesterday we went to a photography exhibition: Margaret Bourke-White in the Martin-Gropius-Bau. This is certainly one of my favourite museums in Berlin, since the building is awesome, they know how to hang photography and they have a really nice bookshop. The exhibition was great, lots of pictures of workers in industrial settings and pictures of the second world war. Really interesting! On top of things I found a copy of a book about Louis Faurer for a ridiculously cheap price. Really successful trip.

Just after 12 last night I was finally allowed to open my birthday presents. Yes, it’s my birthday today! I got a new camera: Olympus E-PL 3 micro four thirds camera! Great image quality, small and light, and I’m hoping that people get less self-conscious when I point it at them. Really nice is also the flip screen. I can actually look at the screen while shooting from a low or high angle. So cool! I also got other photography related presents: a book about Henri Cartier-Bresson, one about street photography and a book with pictures of soviet revolutionary architecture by Richard Pare – I saw many of those pictures in a great exhibition last year.
