Somehow I was under the impression that I already posted a picture today. How strange!

Here a picture that I didn’t get the chance to post when it was taken, because it didn’t turn out to be the best of the day. It was taken outside a Turkish supermarket here in Wedding. I edited it yesterday, although it was taken two weeks ago. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with the many pictures I shoot when I have my camera with me. Sometimes I don’t have much luck and most pictures turn out boring, but on other days I somehow end up with a ton of nice pictures and not enough time to edit them all.

I vaguely remember that I saw a documentary once where a photographer — can’t remember who — was said to have left behind a couple of hundred undeveloped rolls of film after his death. I can only imagine what things will be like with digital images. Nothing needs to be discarded, every picture can be edited in a million different ways and your initial picture doesn’t even need to be good at all. No contact sheets, no crop markings, no negatives that commit you to anything. And even worse, your work can be erased with one single mistake.

I have become vaguely paranoid about losing my pictures. I now make a backup every day to be on the safe side, but still. All this work I put into my pictures every day somehow makes it hard not to get paranoid about the possibility. Do you also get that feeling? Do you make backups?
