Today I was rather glad that I had my Canon Sureshot WP-1, since the waves were quite turbulent. I still haven’t taken the plunge and tried whether this toy is truly waterproof, but it definitely stayed dry inside after getting sprayed with water several times. In any case, so far it’s doing precisely the job for which I got this camera and I think it was a good decision to get it. With this camera I don’t have to worry about getting sand or water into any of my nicer cameras and on top of it this beast is truly unthreatening since it looks like a toy. The lens is of course unspectacular, but it does the job in bright sunshine and that’s all I want from it.
I also can say that I definitely have defeated the T-Max 400 with my usual weapon: Caffenol-CL. So far I haven’t found a film that doesn’t work in it and I’m really rather happy with all my results. I’m not sure what I think of the T-Max yet, since I haven’t edited any of the scans yet, but the raw scans don’t look too bad. It probably won’t become my favourite, but it also isn’t awful. I don’t even mind that I still have 5 more rolls of this stuff before I can move on to the HP5+ that is already spooled and ready to shoot.
