Although this trip was really good and successful, I’m definitely looking forward to getting home now. The problem with travelling is that one spends most of the time waiting in crowded places surrounded by people who think that they are alone on this planet. Combining this with early starts, security checks and x-rays turns a minor inconvenience into a vaguely infuriating experience. At least I didn’t have any discussions about having my film hand-checked this time, even though the security guy who had to do the checking didn’t seem too happy with me. Nevertheless I’m quite glad that I don’t have to face more of this for a few months.

It’s also almost summer, so I’m hoping that the weather forecast will eventually show something other than rain on the horizon, maybe even with fewer headache inducing weather changes! The last few days went from 30 to 16°C and that always gets to me. However, I’m sure I’m going to regret complaining about weather changes, since I got quite a bunch of ISO 200 film now and I’m sure we’ll get a stable rainy season now. Did I mention that I hate shooting in the rain?

And because I’m going home today I decided to show you a roll from there to get in the mood. Sometimes shooting street there infuriates me too, but I think lately I’ve found a some strategies that work, especially when I have the opportunity to experiment with different emulsions and developers as well. When I travel I usually stick to tried and tested stuff, but back home it normally doesn’t matter so much if I ruin a roll. The next stuff to figure out will be T-Max 400, HP5+ and Xtol. Especially the T-Max will be a challenge, since I always disliked its clinical look. Maybe it can be remedied by pushing it though.
