Not so long ago I complained that I was months behind on my scanning. Well, I’ve done it: I’ve developed, scanned and dust-spotted all my film! And I thought having the flu was completely pointless …! I even went further than all that and actually made an Excel sheet with all the data for every roll: camera, lens and development. I now know that I’ve shot 50 rolls with my Leica since I got it in December, that K400 / RPX400 is my commonly used film followed by Tri-X. Those two were pretty obvious, but who would have thought that a colour film would be number 3 on the list of preferred films? It’s indeed that mysterious Fuji emulsion they sell in German drugstores called Rossmann 400 or dm Paradies 400. Still, no surprises there in a way, since it’s the cheapest colour film around and it does a decent enough job. This is also the film I will take to Argentina, since I’m planning to shoot a lot of film in a short amount of time. More expensive film only makes sense with a lot of long term planning and less random subject matter than street photography.
About today’s pictures: Well, if you thought you could get away without knowing what German small suburban towns are like, you will be disappointed. These pictures show perfectly what I have to work with when I’m there. It’s so drab and boring it might even work as a series. You can imagine that this is not exactly the best place in the world for street photography!
