gossip

Although I had already shot 5 rolls this week I couldn’t resist taking Nancy with me yesterday as well. This makes a total of 6 1/2 rolls this week and those will be the last of them, since I’m not planning to go out to shoot today. You can imagine what this means though when I actually barely manage to scan and edit one roll a day. It’s only a matter of time until I can’t keep up with myself anymore!

One solution would be to shoot more medium format, because it’s faster to scan, but then I also love my Leica and blaze through the rolls with it, so that’s not going to happen. The other idea is to get a faster dedicated film scanner for 35mm that is better at doing things automatically. Of course, my v700 is great and it produces nice image quality especially in medium format, but for 35mm it’s just a real pain to use if you want to scan more than a frame or two. The scanner I have in mind – the Pakon F135+ which can scan a whole roll of 35mm film in 5 minutes – is a bit of a tough one to find at the moment, but I’ll keep my eyes open and maybe one pops up soon. Spending less time on scanning would definitely help, also considering that I want to be out there shooting instead of spending so much time in front of the computer battling with scanning software! And then I’m also generally quite busy. Every day I spend quite a bit of time scanning and developing, and the rest of the time I’m reading and working on my PhD. And the next few weeks will be even more busy, since I will be going to the language course every morning.

I’m tempted to get one of those masks for some picture related fun …!

She walked into my frame …! Luckily it was already correctly focussed, I was at f/3.5.

I didn’t even try to focus on the moving targets. Moments later an old lady asked whether I was filming for TV. Not with a Rolleicord!

This shot I anticipated. I focussed and then waited for the man to come out of the shop on the right.

It was already getting dark, so the depth of field was rather difficult for moving targets. Bikes are my favourite prefocus target.
