Sometimes I look at the results from a day out and I’m utterly disappointed. Other times however, I can’t stop looking at the pictures amazed at what I somehow managed to produce. Especially with 120 film I tend to get one great shot on each roll that I want to print big and hang on a wall. With this roll I’m happy to say that for the first time I have 2 such lovely shots on one roll! 2 in 12, that’s an amazing hit rate, especially considering that with digital I normally approach a hit rate of 0-1 in 2-300! I hope you like this series just as much as I do.
All pictures taken with: Rolleicord V, Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar 75mm f/3.5.
Kodak Tri-X stand-developed in Rodinal 1:100, 60min.
This is the shot that I probably like the most. I think this shot would not have been half as good without the black dog sitting alone and the guy with his full (!!!) shadow in the bottom right corner. Staring out at the water and maybe taking a quick swim definitely falls under dog pleasures.
Another dog sitting alone, looking out at the water.
And another guy sniffing around the neighbourhood on his own.
This is the second shot that I really really like. The facial expression of the boy swimming on his back is fantastic – a mixture of concentration and bliss.
This is the new breaker, taller than the old one and apparently also a good place to relax. Not sure what happened with the grain here – after all this is medium format and still, it’s pretty out of control. I guess I overexposed this quite a bit. Good that I got myself a new meter, since my old GDR selenium meter did a shoddy job on this one!
Not sure which wall was crooked here, but definitely one of them was!
Terrific photos. Rolleicord: my Dad swore by it, raved about it. Anything with doggy content is sure to be a huge hit with lots of subscribers including me ! I have many amazing portraits of my pet Bingo on my Flickr site, hope you can find a few minutes to check them out, at https://www.flickr.com/photos/subroto_mukerji/
Yes, great shots!
Isn’t it normally the dog who runs into the water to fetch the balls? 🙂 Nice shots, i really dig the first one
