I already showed you some analog black and white pictures from the world cup celebrations at the Fanmeile in Berlin. Now I’ve reached the digital pictures of the same day in my editing queue. I took them on the night of the game where Germany won against Brazil 7:1. Let me say again, football is not my kind of thing at all. On top of that football is also a convenient excuse to get out the German flags and start up the racist slurs again. You wouldn’t believe the kind of shit I heard that night on the bus home! Although I think this sort of situational racism is a universal phenomenon and not restricted to Germany at all, it nevertheless gives me the creeps. However, this feeling only overcame me on the bus home and not necessarily at the celebrations themselves. There I was just amused by the lack of restraint and self-consciousness people were showing that night. Must have been all the drinking. There were some really odd people out there and most of them, especially the girls, probably never cared about football ever before.
All pictures taken with: Olympus Pen E-PL3 and Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 ASPH.
Oh dear …!
Posing for the TV cameras.
Half the people weren’t really there but busy with their smart phones. Silly, really!
People were displaying and displaying and displaying …
And they were drinking.
No, really, they were drinking a lot …!
I would have had a candid one of this if the AF on my Oly hadn’t been utterly useless. He noticed me and wanted to see the picture, but it had turned out unsharp. He was a nice bloke and did it again for me. Thanks man!
The only Brazilian flag I saw although there were at least a couple of guys dressed in Brazilian kit. I actually saw a lot of tourists with German flags … very odd that.
