Since I posted some Berlin pictures yesterday, I might as well continue with some leftovers from last year. These were taken here and there on different days.
I tried to crop this into a square format, but realised that I like it better with the out of focus area on the left. Strange that.
Carrying small dogs is for sissies …!
Totally Berlin.
Oh and of course that one too. Obviously a little late for a Christmas picture. Bear with me, I’m catching up.
Drummer giving us a warm welcome. We were buying toys with my mum for the baby of her colleague. I’m a bit jealous now. I also want a crocodile hand puppet! Kids are so lucky …
Grumpy times.
He was reading not only one, but four different books on the subway. I’d call that dedication!
This little guy looks like the doppelgänger of a friend of mine from high school. Eerie.
Ah, Berlin.
Somehow this reminds me of Orwell’s description of the hospital trains during the Spanish Civil War. I almost expected someone to collapse any second.
He was very protective of it.
One of these people that I wouldn’t like to meet in a dark alley, or on the subway for that matter. Yep, you understood that correctly. Brrrrr.
Tap tap.
This picture explains why I love black and white.
And jump!
All pictures taken with: Olympus Pen E-PL3 and Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 ASPH.
Oh dear, I think I edited too many pictures today. I feel slightly numb now. I was going through the pictures taken during our trip to Dresden and had my mind set on finishing them today. Of course I didn’t manage though and there is still the journey back to edit now, before I will post them all. It will be a long post I guess. In any case, I’m making progress and slowly I’m catching up both with my digital queue as well as my analog one. There is only one more roll of film to edit until I have aligned my analog and my digital editing queue, which will make things easier.
Speaking of film: Today a new batch of Kentmere 400 arrived and so I took my last roll of the previous batch for a spin in my Zorki. The light was great and I explored a bit on the other side of the train tracks. I have been there before, two years ago, but only with my Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lens on my crop, and the street is not that wide. It slightly felt like cutting paper with an axe. Besides, back then it was already dark. At 35mm during the day in brilliant sunshine it was a real joy to shoot there. The only problem: my Zorki massacred the sprocket holes again. Luckily I managed to rewind the film anyway and so I hope that there won’t be many scratches. Not sure whether there is a solution for this. At the moment I don’t want to take the Zorki apart for lack of a backup in case I mess something up. The sprockets don’t always tear, but only in some cases. I wonder what the decisive factor is in this. Maybe there is a way of loading the film that causes less problems. Anyway, if I notice the tearing right away then the film doesn’t tear completely and I can rewind the film normally. In that case only the last few negatives get scratched. If I can’t rewind it though, it’s a bigger problem and quite likely the whole roll will get scratched in one way or another. So far that only happened a couple of times and one was with the Zorki 3C. I guess that’s what happens when you use cheap Russian copies instead of the original. Ah, one day …!
