This picture definitely falls in the not-good-but-funny category. I was taking a picture of my screen which featured a very pixelated scan of an illustration showing vampyrotheutis infernalis – the vampire squid from hell. I first saw this little monster in a documentary and had to laugh so much about its name! It really does look very sinister, but it’s rather harmless to be honest, since it’s usually only 30 cm big. It chasing my oversized cursor on the screen just looked amusing enough to warrant a grainy shot of a pixelated image.
Someone once told me there’s a difference between a technically good photo and a good photo.
Sometimes you can have both, but a photo doesn’t always have to demonstrate technical perfection in order to be a good image… or even an iconic one.
I think that’s very true.
