Whenever I make the mistake of looking at information about Leica cameras, I cry a little, since you can easily end up having to make a choice between a Leica camera and a car. Every time I look at pictures taken with the Leica, with all the crisp sharpness, the great contrasts, the wonderful bokeh and the beautiful colours, I decide to blow a part of my salary on paying off a credit for a Leica M9. Only problem is … I don’t even have a salary, so we’re really talking imaginary lalabubu-land here. So, every time after I come back to reality I end up with a bunch of black and white conversions, since the colours on my DSLR just seem so disappointing in comparison with what a Leica does. Also in black and white the Leica is so much better, but still at least like this I feel like I can get a little closer to the kind of look I want for my pictures.

That said, I love my camera and DSLRs are fantastic for a lot of things. And yeah, expensive equipment doesn’t replace “the eye” as they say. I’ve also been trying to get the most out of my 50mm f/1.4 lens, which can be difficult on a crop body, but limitations do help to some extent, right? So, there is the whole grow and learn type of thing as well. And yes, yes, it’s surely rational not to spend a fortune on a camera, especially considering that even professionals find it too expensive. However, a girl can still dream, right?

Oh, you say, you have heard the Leica lusting from me before? You’ll definitely hear it again! One day, when I have a couple of hundred euros to spare each month for a few years, I’m definitely getting that Leica … no matter how crazy that might seem.
