Some objects just lend itself more naturally to be captured in black and white. I especially like the shadow of the chair almost creating a shifted symmetry.

I would have to agree. Color just would not speak the volumes this B/W does.
Thanks Deb, I’m a great fan of black and white. I think there is something about colour too, so I am working on a series that achieves a sort of natural black and white quality. I should really try to get a menu item going for those, because I already have a few of them. White things in the real world are never entirely white …
Great image! I love how shadows transform images and can become an important element in a composition.
Indeed, I often try to achieve that the shadows become more important than the object itself in pictures, because it makes for more interesting compositions.
