Without intending to I had a monochrome week photographically. Going about my life in the dark late autumn evenings messes with the colour abilities of my camera and I find it really difficult to get the colours right under the circumstances. It prompts me to work with what I’ve got, enhancing contrasts as far as I can to at least get a decent black and white shot and sometimes I even feel compelled to go overboard with the contrasts like in this shot. I was tired last night and it was the first night of the week that I didn’t even feel like going to tango. I was all danced out, cosy in my warm bed, sleepy. And then there was still the issue of my picture for the day. I could have taken some fruit from the kitchen, but I wanted to try something new. I wanted to capture how I felt, although I was really too tired to even attempt it. I did it anyway. And I’m glad I did.

Good job on this. You’re not the only one who sometimes tries to go overboard on the contrast in their mono shots. Sometimes it just fits the image better. 🙂
