child’s play

A couple weeks ago I posted pictures from a roll of K400 that I shot accidentally at ISO 800. This is the companion roll of Tri-X that also ended up with the same ISO settings and in the same tank. While the K400 actually worked out alright with the little push, the Tri-X would have been fine at 60min as well. It was really contrasty! However, I’m still glad I pushed this one because of the first shot which wouldn’t have worked at ISO 400. Serendipity, since I didn’t even know that I was shooting at 800.

All pictures taken with: Olympus XA, F.Zuiko 35mm f/2.8.
Tri-X @800 stand-developed in Rodinal, 75min.

In a rather nice park.

This looks so odd because of the birds in the background. As if even the sculpture was cowering to get away from the birds.

As if riding on the sidewalk wasn’t annoying enough, no, they also have to check their phones while being obnoxious!

Danke 🙂 Auch mein liebstes von der Serie!

  • Khoob bishesh pochchondo holo na ! Sorry, lapsed into my mother tongue, Bengali, as if in answer to all those who post replies / comments in languages other than English. And guess what? There’s Hindi, Marathi, and Punjabi yet to come. India has 16 state-recognized ‘Official’ languages.

Subroto, Google translate tells me: “Not very special liking”? Did google translate make a mistake or don’t you like the pictures much? In any case, dothob has been following my blog for quite a long time and knows that I speak German. As long as it’s a language I can understand I’m totally fine with non-english comments. This allows German, Spanish and even a bit of Italian when I’m having a good day. Sorry, I don’t speak Bengali though …!

    Rodinal is great.
A pity not so easy to get these last days.
    Pushing one stop…
You can even develop it at its nominal time.
    60 min.!
Such a huge amount of time. Even with coffee.
Maybe you use a ridiculous dilution.

    • Lilly Schwartz

Rodinal is not hard to get in Spain. Try Foto R3, that’s where I got mine.

And the dilution: 1:100 is indeed “ridiculous”, but with this you will get very smooth grain, +/-1stop compensation. 60min is perfectly fine too, because it’s stand development and you don’t need to sit next to it. Instead of sitting with the tank for 16 minutes I agitate 30sec and then go do something else for half an hour, agitate for 10 sec and another half hour nothing to do. Stand development is great and pretty fool proof!

Oh, I use to get it from Germany.
But it’s like going for cigarettes and don’t having your brand

    • Lilly Schwartz

Well, I had to switch recipes as well when I moved. Instead of the Adonal I used to use I now have to use R09 One shot. Definitely different because after development it comes out a different colour. It’s very similar though.

Some films “dye” a lot after developing. TMax for instance

    • Lilly Schwartz

I only shoot TMax when someone donates it … not my cup of tea.
