This is the entrance to a housing estate with lots of smaller backyards. There seems to be only one way in and out, and all the people you meet greet you, since nobody would end up there by chance. I just happened to be walking around doing my usual thing of walking into random backyards and so ended up walking behind them when one of them turned to the other.
