I have to admit that I’m somewhat pleased with this picture. This is not because this is a particularly pretty picture or features anything special, no, it just captures the atmosphere of the specific backyard particularly well. The light coming from the entrance, the pattern of the wall, the light in the street at the back, it all gives me this chilly feel of a dark night out there in the city, where people walk without looking, where they live without noticing, somewhere. It could be anywhere, any backyard in any neighbourhood that doesn’t consist of concrete blocks. And still, it’s also a specific backyard just a block from here that made me deviate from the usual way to the shop, because the lights and shadows made my inner camera click.
