say no to austerity

As always, if you have questions, objections, worries or praise, and especially if you found your picture and want it removed, feel free to contact me. I will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also read my full disclaimer, if you are interested.

Sometimes good photographic practice isn’t about going outside and shooting. Sometimes it’s taking care of your archive. Today I got a new folder for my negatives in the mail along with another pack of negative sleeves. I seem to go through them at a rather fast pace lately and I’m still looking for the right kind of sleeves to make me happy. I like the Adox PP sleeves, but sadly I can only get them from Fotoimpex and they have such high shipping prices to Spain that it really doesn’t make any sense. I’m somewhat less enthusiastic about the ClearFile sleeves – thinner, a little flimsy and they could do with a couple millimetres more on each side. Really, it’s as if they’re stingy on the material! The next pack I’m trying will be PrintFile sleeves and I hope they will have a less disappointing feel to them than the ClearFile ones. Exciting? Well, no, but definitely necessary.

Other than that I really tried to shoot a roll today, but somehow people were being extremely boring and I didn’t manage to finish it. And later when there were better chances of more interesting stuff happening the light had turned to a grey uninspiring muddle and I didn’t feel like going out again. Maybe I’m more lucky tomorrow.

The pictures I’m showing you today were taken during carnival. I probably should have shot these in colour, but I actually forgot to order ISO 400 colour in 120. However, at least the other Rollei roll I shot was Velvia 100, taken on another day when the light was better.

All pictures taken with: Rolleicord V, Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar 75mm f/3.5.

This is what a space suit looks like after the austerity measures. Would you want to go to space in that?
