This picture had to come eventually. It’s a macro of one of my eyes and as you can see they’re mostly green with some sprinkles of brown towards the centre. It was difficult to shoot since I had to bring the camera really close and I couldn’t quite control the composition. I’m happy with the result though, since I didn’t think it would work at all.
I’ve been trying to take this picture several times over the years with different cameras, but only now with my EOS 450D and a macro converter it looks like what I intended. I feel now that doing this one picture a day project is really helping me grow. I’m learning a lot about everything, from composition, post-processing to getting the picture you imagine rather just plain ‘what you see’. And sometimes even the latter is difficult, because cameras work very differently to eyes. Yes, sometimes it’s a struggle and I just want to stay in the warmth, watch some series and late at night I finally come up with something to shoot, but on other days it’s really nice to go out and hunt for pictures. It very much depends on how I feel and what else is part of my worries for that day. However, I’m convinced now that I won’t give up. I might even stick to this when this year of taking pictures is over, since this whole experience is rather rewarding.
Prety cool…difficult to accomplish but you did a fine job!
Wow, that’s amazing taking a picture of your own eye! As you say it must have been quite tricky doing so.
I’ve never been able to pull this one of, but you’ve sure nailed it here!
I have to commend you on your brave attempt. I have had a frustating time trying to get a get closeup of my wife’s eyes (frustating her in turn as well) and i am only imagine how much effort it would take to get your own !
All the best on continuing with your daily experiments..
I have yet to get a good one of my own eye, though I have managed quite well with other people. I would love to have your eye color; I am sitting here with basic brown. Meh. At least I can see with them though!
i’m a basic dark brown eye too…green is my favourite colour..so pretty! I agree, lots to learn of a photo a day project…really takes you out of your comfort zone…i love it
Ha! I was trying something like this the other day. failed. Bad. After about 2 hours in the bathroom trying to use the mirror I hear from the bedroom my wife…
“Aaron, what the hell are you doing in there?!?” ME: “trying to take a picture babe!” to which my wife responded… “That better not be going on the internet!!”
I didn’t bother explaining…
