droplets on yellow fruit © Lilly Schwartz
Every day for 100 days I have taken pictures. With this I still haven’t reached a third of my planned year. I had lots of fun so far, but slowly I can also understand why people abandon these kind of projects after a while. If you think about it, the motivation for such creative things often goes out of the window if you feel that your forced to do them. Setting yourself goals like doing this kind of thing every day for a year, well, there are bound to be days when you feel a bit rough or just want to stay at home doing nothing. The last few days I’ve felt that pressure.
These days I was generally feeling a bit like I have a cold and I was exhausted from driving for hours on end through random towns and villages near Berlin on Thursday. Today I had the same ordeal, just this time driving on the Autobahn. Again I got up way too early and then drove around Berlin for about 4 hours. While I was overtaking a lorry on the left, someone apparently found that I wasn’t fast enough and overtook the lorry on the right, where there isn’t even a lane. People are utterly crazy. Luckily nothing happened, but I guess some people do feel the urge to die young.
The picture is a macro of a star fruit or also carambola. They look pretty if you cut them open, but I found that the droplets made this picture of the outside interesting too. From the taste they’re not so interesting and they’re quite sour too. I found them nice with some sugar though.
Ha! I knew it was a star fruit. 🙂 I thought to myself, let me read this and I bet she mention it. Sure enough…
Really cool shot. Makes me want to take out my macro stuff and start shooting!
I know that feeling very well…
I think the main thing is to have fun… too much pressure can really do a number on creativity (for me, anyway)!
Great details, Ms. S!
🙂
I am struggling, at day 184, to find subjects to photograph. I find myself re-visiting areas I have shot once or twice before to see what the seasons, the angle of the sun, my current mood will bring. So for it is working, but with just under half to go, I am not sure that I will find much difference with each day that passes. Ack!
This is a really nice macro. The color and the detail work beautifully.
Although you feel as you are struggling, I see a deeper creativity in your images. No struggle, no growth 🙂
It’s great that you’ve kept up the post a day thing, and I really like the way you find a wide variety of things to photograph, from your sleeping self to earphones, from subways to close-ups of fruit!
don’t give up!! Sometimes ya gotta just push through it- the feeling at the end will be awesome, and hey it’s a learning experience too! Loving the randomness
Nice macro
I’ve wondered if these fruits were tasty! Interesting macro view.
