donkeys at the river

Today I was planning to take out my Rollei and shoot some colour. I still have 2 rolls of slide film in 120 and I’m eager to finish it so that I can finally get to see some results. Sadly the weather didn’t quite cooperate and it’s been raining since morning. Not exactly the right weather for a TLR and even less so for ISO 100 film. They say film needs patience. Quite right considering that I’ve been working on this batch of E6 since January and still have 4 rolls out of 12 to go. In total there are 5 rolls of 120 Velvia 100 and Rollei CR200 each, plus 2 rolls of Agfa Precisa CT 100 in 35mm. However, at least this wait might mean that I will have plenty of practice on the C41 film in the meantime. I already went through 4 litres of C41 chemicals and developed some 65 rolls of film with it and I might try to finish another 2 litres before I mix my E6 kit. Maybe this way I won’t mess up the development on my first attempt at the new process.

Today’s roll was shot in June on my last trip. I think the shots work quite well in colour even though the Kodak Farbwelt again shows quite a bit of magenta / blue in the shadows. I guess in bright sunshine it’s not so much of an issue.

All pictures taken with: Leica M6, Zeiss ZM C-Biogon 35mm f/2.8.

Donkeys are not exactly the kind of thing one expects to see in this day and age. When I told my husband about the donkeys he thought I was kidding him. Especially since I mentioned the “oven man” in the same conversation. No, not everyone has central heating in Germany.

The donkeys are mainly meant as entertainment for the children though.

He seems a little too old for that tricycle.

Looks like they were posing for me, but it was actually candid.

I’m afraid of heights, but I climbed the stairs anyway.
