looking out

Today I was freezing when I went back from a café along the river where I had a drink with some of the girls from the language school. Clearly I was a bit optimistic hoping that I would get away without my winter coat this year. So much for the warm southern climate. No snow of course, but these days we still had the proper winter weather how it is common around here. Biting winds, a really annoying rain that chills you to the bone and of course those few hours of sunshine that make you overestimate the temperatures. Oh, how I wish for it to be summer already!

In the end I was so cold that I didn’t even finish the roll in my Leica. Maybe tomorrow with the city festival there will be a bigger chance of filling it. Like almost everything around here the day is celebrated with lots and lots of drumming. And this time they really mean it: They will be drumming from 12pm at night until 24h later! I don’t really expect to get any sleep with all the drumming, singing and marching that will go on and of course they will also be marching through our street.

By the way, I’m trying to go through my rolls at least somewhat chronologically which means that I still have quite a few XA shots and some Rollei shots to share before I come to post Leica shots more regularly. This kind of explains why I thought I’d throw in a roll of Nancy shots from my last trip to mix things up a little. And as always these days I also kept half of the roll for a later post to have something to show while I’m travelling. This roll was actually taken at night and pushed in Caffenol, which explains why I got thin negatives and quite a bit of grain. I think Rodinal is actually much better for pushing.

I couldn’t resist. Very dark there, but I got something useful out of it!

The hands of the boy were the motivation for this picture.

I just wanted to see what this looks like on film. A strange mix of noir and futuristic sci fi, I’d say.

Well, you already know my thing for geometry.
