the letter

Today was definitely a photographically successful day, since I finished 3 rolls of film, one in the Leica, one in the XA and another one in the Rollei. It was actually my first time shooting colour slide film in my Rollei – fittingly some Rollei CR200 – and I’m really curious now. The only problem is that I will have to wait until I have enough rolls shot so that I can make sure I use up my chemicals in a reasonable amount of time. However, I’ll definitely finish these until March, because I want to shoot something important on slide film in April and I have to make sure that I get it right. I guess I will have to use every opportunity to shoot slide film in my Rollei now. It might get a little more difficult though, since the rain is returning and the slide film I have is ISO 200 and 100 film.

Random photographic conversation of the day: I was setting up a shot with the Rollei, metering, framing etc. when an old man hobbles into the frame. He says to me “But I’m very ugly!” as if I was trying to take his picture. I say “That’s not true …!” and he goes “What what?”, obviously quite deaf, saying a completely random word that rhymes with “true” and adding “I don’t understand you!” I say “I’m sorry!” and he hobbles out of the frame. Click.

Speaking of rain, today some more Leica shots pushed in Caffenol. After developing a couple of ISO 1600 rolls in Rodinal yesterday, I think I can confirm my initial intuition: Rodinal gives me more speed when pushing. So, the two rolls of Rollei RPX pushed to 3200 that I still have lying around will definitely go into some Rodinal!

All pictures taken with: Leica M6 and Zeiss ZM C-Biogon 35mm f/2.8.

Hardly visible in the light, but the guy’s eyes were closed while he was listening to a street musician.

I have a thing for bookshops and this happens to be my favourite one.

I also have a thing for pictures of people who are reading. Probably part of my Kertész obsession.

Hey! I thought my obsession with Kertesz was certifiable…glad to see someone else has it too. I feel normal now 🙂 (I have that book too)
