canal television

Flying with film can be a bit difficult, especially if you’re flying with high ISO film and the police officers don’t know how to use the machine for hand-checking the film. Since I was travelling with lots of ISO 1600 film, I was insistent though and after a long discussion they finally gave in.

I especially loved the part where the woman said:
“Even professionals put their film through these scanners …”
“I AM a professional …!”

I don’t know, maybe the 3 cameras, the 45 rolls of film and the light box in my hand luggage could have given me away?! Well, in the end I got my film hand-checked and it was all fine. Now imagine what these fine people would have done if I had insisted having the 100ft roll of film hand-checked as well. I bet they would have tried to open it!

Now that I’m back home I can start on the daunting task of developing all this film that I shot over there – 25 rolls. I already developed a couple of rolls and the negs simply look great, thanks to the awesomeness of Nancy (my Leica). I’m first starting with the box-speed rolls, which are only a few and then I’m going to tackle all the pushed rolls. This time I want to try pushing in Caffenol to see how that goes. Depending on the results I will push the rest either in Caffenol or in Rodinal, which is the developer that I normally use for pushing. And then there is of course a whole bunch of colour film as well!

Other than that it’s just nice to be back home, especially since it’s about 10 degrees warmer here!

All pictures taken with: Leica M6 and Zeiss ZM C-Biogon 35mm f/2.8.
Ilford XP2 stand-developed in Rodinal 1:100, 60min.

Did I mention that I *love* this lens?

And a portrait of my husband with all kinds of lines in the background. I originally wanted the Summicron 35mm version IV, the “king of bokeh” apparently. If you ask me, this bokeh is pretty enough! Did I mention that I love this lens?

Not bad for the first roll, eh? I was still a bit lost with the light meter at that point, but these worked fine!
