I really try to post pictures every day, but at the moment it’s rather impossible, because I’m very busy with all the moving business. I still have about one week of this madness to go and then I’ll have to say goodbye to Berlin. I’m not sad to leave, on the contrary. Berlin is a fantastic place to visit, but I didn’t care much for living here. The winters are horrifically cold, the summers are too hot and humid, and the prices are skyrocketing even for the worst neighbourhoods. And I must know, since I lived in one of those neighbourhoods that always appear in the news for the murders and robberies. There was a murder in my local supermarket while I lived here. Some crazy guy stabbed an old man to death at the meat counter with a knife from the household section. Well, if that isn’t a reason to move, then I don’t know! If I had known what kind of neighbourhood this was, I certainly would have gone out of my way to look somewhere else.

Nevertheless I will miss some of the nice things about Berlin: There are always nice exhibitions, great big bookshops also with books in English and art books, there is an English language cinema, and both winter and summer, rain or sunshine, it’s always a great place for street photography. When it’s cold and rainy, I could always shoot in the subway and I will miss that for sure. However, San Sebastian isn’t bad for street photography either. It might be less varied and there is nothing to shoot when it rains, but on sunny days there is definitely scope to catch something interesting. The weather is good in summer, the food quality is great with local fresh fish all year, there is a nice beach and even though the crisis has also hit San Sebastian, it’s much less depressing than most of the residential neighbourhoods in Berlin. I already spent most of the last year there, but from now on I will also have all my stuff there, including my books and all my photography gear, which will make things a lot easier.

And now for some pictures from San Sebastian taken last month.

Dogs feature a lot more in my San Sebastian pictures, because people there are crazy about dogs. Sometimes it seems that everyone has a dog.

And this girl was struggling a bit with her bike. She didn’t fall over though.
