The problem with taking breaks in the usual workflow of shooting, developing and editing is that things accumulate. I normally don’t mind the development part of my work with film too much. With a bit of experimentation in between it’s even sometimes enjoyable. However, I don’t really like to develop every day and especially not C41 film that needs much more attention. Nevertheless with 32 rolls still to be developed I better continue my daily efforts even if it’s not all that enjoyable so that one day I can return to a more relaxed style of working.

There are still 6 rolls left to be developed with my second litre of Fuji Hunt chemicals and I have to say that I’m not convinced of them for manual development. I have tried about everything I can think of in terms of agitation and I can’t seem to get even development out of them with my Paterson tank and AP spools. Maybe it’s the spools that upset the flow of chemicals in the tank, but since I didn’t have any problems with the Tetenal chemicals even when agitating with the stick I think it’s the chemicals that are the main problem here. When it works, the results are superb, better than with Tetenal actually, but sadly I only managed it once, by chance. In fact I even doubt that it would have worked if all the rolls would have had pictures with a lot of sky in them. And so the experimentation continues …
