tourists pointing at things

When I was last visiting my hometown we went for a little day trip to Dresden to visit my brother and go to the New Masters Gallery together. It was one of those days where one would prefer to sit next to a warm radiator (yes, we’re modern city dwellers) instead of going out on a dismally cold and rainy day.

All pictures taken with: Olympus Pen E-PL3 and Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 ASPH.

I like how the woman in the background is actually pointing in a different direction.

I can only approve, I real book with real paper. Remember those? I love her concentration. Nothing prettier than a girl with a book.

If you actually manage to see anything from below your umbrella or hood it’s actually still quite beautiful, even in the rain.

This was actually commissioned by my brother. Obvious tourist shot. He was making fun of my picture taking.

Couldn’t figure out who the artist is, but wow! This was in the foyer of the Albertinum. Inside it wasn’t allowed to take pictures.

Yes, one of those days. We probably looked equally happy.

More tourists pointing at more things.

Just about bearable low light performance of my Olympus. If this was film, I’d change the brand. Ugly grain.

Steamed up tram. They are always full this time of year because of the Christmas markets.

Making sure the little one stays dry. At least from above.

Something must have been funny.

These days in San Sebastian the weather is equally dismal. And since I’m not a tourist here, I prefer to stay inside for the moment, at least until I’ve caught up with my editing queue. The rain is better than the freezing temperatures back in Germany, but still rather annoying. It’s no problem to use my Olympus with an umbrella, but my Zorki is a bit of a pain to use with one hand. Besides, wet film tends to tear easily and one has to constantly clean the lens. Am I a good-weather-photographer then? I guess so. Sunny or grey, not too cold, not too wet are my preferred conditions, unless I get jittery to take some pictures. It’s been raining for 1 1/2 weeks already and I’m starting to feel a little like a trapped animal. And would you know it, the weather forecast promises 7 more days of rain. I guess I need to bite the bullet and go outside anyway.
