the unhappy princess

As always, if you have questions, objections, worries or praise, and especially if you found your picture and want it removed, feel free to contact me. I will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also read my full disclaimer, if you are interested.

Another bunch of pictures taken in Chemnitz at the end of November and beginning of December. I thought that I had posted all the pictures with a Christmas reference, but I found some more when editing. Ah well, if there is Christmas stuff in the shops from August I can post Christmas pictures until July, right?

All pictures taken with: Olympus Pen E-PL3 and Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 ASPH

The perfect companion to my unhappy prince didn’t want to be on my blog. Fair enough. Shame though, it was a nice picture.

They had a whole big bag of sweets. I don’t get parents these days. When I was a kid my parents only gave me one bag of Haribo a week. If I wanted more I had to buy the rest myself.

Cutest expression ever!

Another wonderful example of parenting today. My parents also never bought us food from McDonalds.

Sometimes you just have to wait in one spot and the pictures will happen right in front of you.

Another day in the park. It was so cold that my film ripped.

This was in another park on another day actually.

After walking around in two parks that day I was extremely cold and decided to check out the old market hall, not knowing that it isn’t a market hall anymore. They sell bikes there now. On the way there I walked past a shop window. They were selling elephants apparently and all sorts of other stuff that I couldn’t see due to the steamed up windows. Must have been like a sauna inside.

Ok, sometimes I really don’t like the out of focus areas with this lens. No wonder I prefer having the focus in the foreground rather than the background.

Another day. I was going to the neighbourhood where we lived when I was little. I basically hadn’t been in the area since I left primary school. I was quite anxious so I started taking pictures of the tram journey. Well, this looks so ugly that it almost looks like “home”.

There we are. First time I got off the tram in that spot after 18 years. Lovely, isn’t it?

After walking over my old school grounds (it was demolished years ago) I went back to the tram stop. I didn’t quite know how to get around that little family without getting mauled by that wolf/dog. Didn’t seem to like me very much.

Another day I decided to have a walk over the Christmas market for some street shots. Angry kid with Angry Birds hat. I love the hand parallels.

The single most important thing to do on a Christmas market is to stuff your face with unhealthy food and drink. I personally would get very ill if I ate  or drank anything there and some of the smells were pure torture (I remember all of it from my childhood).

Difficult to eat apparently.

Oh, flared nostrils, best step away from the kid.

For kids Christmas markets are great. Sweets, entertainment, sometimes even animals and your parents get giddy from all the mulled wine and let you run wild.

Aww! When I was his age I had a toy hedgehog who always came with me.

Note the kid. Yes, the hat is actually covering the entire face. The parents didn’t notice.

I approve of the princess gingerbread heart, but I’m really not so sure about the “White Fun” gloves.

Very realistic facial expression of the horse. If you’d try to hold a horses ears like that it would totally freak out on you.

The kids have already figured out what it’s all about!

Slowly but surely I am working through my editing queue, 11 days digital and 14 rolls of film to go. Editing is like cleaning. Somehow it’s never quite done. However, I have almost caught up now and at the moment the weather is so bad that I don’t really feel like going out much.  Besides, I’ve promised myself that I wouldn’t start a new shooting project until I’m through with the last two (regular street stuff doesn’t count).  I’m already working on another exciting new project though that luckily doesn’t involve my editing queue at all though. I will tell you all about it when I have something to show.
