I can only guess that there was a school play going on. Can’t help finding it stereotypically racist, but oh well.

He was looking for something in his pocket. Why he chose to approach the problem from behind, I don’t know.

Not quite sharp, but I liked the knowing look on the left.

Despite the rough sea there were surfers out there. No wonder that there are fatal accidents if people take those kinds of moronic risks.

I don’t like umbrellas. They are always in the way. As a kid I conveniently lost them just to get rid of them.

Typical Basque street scene. Getting annoyed at people is so easy if they go out of their way to be inconsiderate blocking the entire sidewalk while walking as a group.

Last week I decided to give myself a chance to catch up with my editing. I’ve not taken a digital picture since. The only pictures I took were on a test roll in my new Yashica Electro 35 CC after repairing it a little. Well, the light meter seems to work fine, but the test roll showed that there will be some more work to be done before I can really enjoy the camera. First of all the whole roll tore horribly for no apparent reason. My test of rewinding a blank roll with the back open worked fine, but of the test roll I lost 10 frames. There definitely is also a light leak somewhere and so I’ve decided to replace the light seals as soon as I get my hands on some light seal foam. The other thing I noticed is that there is some gunk on the lens on the inside, which means that there is a bit of a glow. Maybe I have to undertake the scary job of taking apart the lens and cleaning it properly. However, even that is relatively hard to judge  just from the negatives, not even mentioning the sharpness. I will have to wait for the scans to really know what’s going on. The results of the automatic exposures definitely seem promising though and I’m hoping that all my repair work will pay off in the end. It definitely seems like a nice camera. Very quiet and easy to use.

The editing is going well too. Six rolls worth of scans to go and I’ll be done. I’ve discovered that listening to audiobooks while doing the editing makes it less annoying. At the moment my editing is accompanied by John Wyndham’s The Day of the Triffids and John Irving’s The Hotel New Hampshire. I’ve read both of them before, but enjoyed them so much that they seemed worth re-reading. I should be done in just a few days time. Maybe by then the horrific weather will give us another break. There were a couple of sunny days last week before the rain returned. Today it was a mix of rain and wind, even accompanied by a little bit of snow despite the temperatures being 10 degrees above the freezing point. Definitely the kind of weather that makes one wish for summer.
