After another 5 rolls of colour last night I developed 3 rolls of black and white today. I’m currently in the process of testing out Fomapan 400 and have already found the right development time for Caffenol-CL. There are also a couple of rolls pushed to 1600 which I’m planning to develop in Rodinal to see how it does pushed. So far I can’t complain about the results at box-speed and I’m looking forward to seeing more. It’s probably a tad too grainy for my preferences, but it looks like a nice enough cheap emulsion.

Today I’ve also shot my very last roll of Kodak Gold 200 and I will definitely need to get more of this stuff. It’s a truly grand combination with my Pakon and I actually like it a lot better than the Fuji drugstore film I was shooting before. I still haven’t tested it at 400, since I was saving all my rolls for the beach, but I’ll make sure to keep a roll from the next batch for some testing. And then I’m also seeing a bit of Kodak Portra 400 at the moment since I was developing and scanning some medium format stuff from Argentina. I was worried that I might not like it so much, but in the end I’m quite please with the results, especially the skin tones. And so the work continues and I hope that I will finally finish all the rolls from Argentina by the end of the month. Maybe I’m just being optimistic, but now that I only have 20 rolls and 4 batches left I feel that I’m close to finishing now. First I had problems getting the chemicals, then I had problems with the chemicals themselves, but now everything seems to work perfectly and I can even do 5 rolls at once. It should really be a matter of days now!

Developing this much film and especially this much colour film is really quite a chore. But I think lately I’ve been getting some results that definitely made all the effort worthwhile. Nevertheless I already dream of freedom and more time to experiment with something else for a while!

The left edge was actually the left edge of the whole 2:3 version with lots of empty space on the left. The kid on the left was just faster than I thought.
