secretly alien

Between my language course, work on the PhD, scanning, editing and the usual ups and downs of my health I’m really quite busy these days. However, it’s all good and seems to be working out just fine. I can keep up the (almost) daily pictures, make progress with my Spanish and also advance on other fronts. Still, I’m looking forward to a time, when it’s maybe a bit less manic. Not sure when that will be, but hopefully quite soon!

After developing most of my black and white stuff, I now have about a month worth of rolls to scan, if I continue at my current pace of one roll a day. Once I finish my C41 stuff it will be 1 1/2 months worth. I thought I’d have another one of these dry spells during the winter months, like last year, but it seems I’m doing just fine. And you know, there is more stuff to come when I’m travelling in February! I definitely won’t run out of stuff to show you, that’s for sure!

I’m still going through all my XA rolls from last year and there are 7 rolls in the pile from the time prior to getting my Leica. Not sure whether the chronological approach really makes sense, but this way it’s definitely easier to keep track of the rolls. 3 rolls of Rollei rolls are also waiting for attention and the rest of the 30 rolls in my pile were mostly taken with the Leica. This is probably why I’m not getting impatient and just jumping ahead to the Leica rolls: There are lots to come still!

This time it’s a roll taken quite some time ago that didn’t turn out too great. More than half of it had too much shake, because the XA doesn’t do so great when it’s really dark. ISO 800 just isn’t enough! You’re likely to see more night shots around here in the future, now that I have better gear for this sort of thing!

All pictures taken with: Olympus XA, F.Zuiko 35mm f/2.8.
Rollei RPX400 @800 stand-developed in Rodinal 1:100, 90min.

It was way too dark for ISO 800, so this was the only one that turned out in that badly lit area.
