Film really doesn’t make me any more patient normally. These days I actually often develop and scan my film on the same day, because I have found a rather immediate workflow with the Pakon. In 120 it usually still takes me a little longer, because it involves more than just feeding in the film on one end of the scanner, but nevertheless, within a week I usually get to see the first glimpse of my pictures. It doesn’t mean that I edit them this early though. For the editing step I like to wait to gain distance.

The pictures I’m showing you today for example are from before our trip to Buenos Aires and therefore more than 1 1/2 months old. I’d normally just continue chronologically, but I’m still not quite sure when I get to develop the rolls that followed in Buenos Aires. And since I’m planning more trips in the coming month starting with a journey to Barcelona I might even still take another month before I can even start on those Buenos Aires rolls. No, film doesn’t really make me any more patient, but it teaches me better coping strategies. Instead of getting annoyed about the fact that my supplier is keeping me waiting again, I just shoot some more and keep myself entertained with new endeavours!

The next adventure after getting the grips with Double-X will now involve some cine colour film, still with the remjet layer. I’ve got 1 roll of Fuji Eterna 250D, 1 roll of Vision 3 50D and 2 rolls of 250D that wait for testing. These rolls were supplied by Nik & Trick in the UK who really go out of their way to bring us wonderful rare films. I can only recommend them! And incidentally they’re also pretty much the only ones who sell Double-X in Europe, so without them I probably wouldn’t have experienced the joys of the wonderful film that is keeping me entertained this month.
