off

I have somehow managed to catch a cold in this weather and this of course means that I’m having chicken soup and drinking ginger tea. Not exactly how I thought I’d spend one of those precious summer days, especially considering that there is a jazz festival in town. But then, my health never respected my wishes anyway, so I shouldn’t be surprised.

Today I show you another series of another abandoned building in my hometown. Whenever I go there I pick another location and try to document it as far as I can depending on the accessibility. In this case I was hindered a bit by fences that were quite impossible to climb, and even more so in daytime just a couple of blocks from the nearest police station. I made the best of it though and I’m quite pleased with the results.

All pictures taken with: Leica M6, Zeiss ZM C-Biogon 35mm f/2.8.

Taken through a fence. Obviously lots of trespassing going on here, but during daytime it would have been stupid so close to the next police station.

It said “Russenkiller” on the wall. Quite ambiguous since it could mean both a Russian killer or someone who kills Russians.

It had been vandalised, obviously.

Someone even made sure to vandalise the street light.

Ah, one just has to love East Germany …! It has been a while since I saw Nazi skinheads, but the sentiment is alive and kicking.

The tones! Golden hour at its best.

Inspired the title of the post.

I just love how the tree and its shadow are somehow confusingly close together.

The light was great that evening and Kentmere really shines here in Caffenol.

A shame that I couldn’t catch more details of the building in the back. Beautiful old factory. It’s a shame that it’s not in use anymore.

  • Get well soon. I managed to get a bad cold too and was in bed all day yesterday (missing out on a whole day of #Holgaweek, oh no!). Better now though and hope to photograph a lot this weekend.

    • Oh then you get well quickly too so that you can shoot your Holga! I’m kinda at the opposite end of the spectrum with my Leica and Rollei, but I do appreciate what some people can do with such simple cameras!
