The first development tank I ever bought was a Jobo 1520. I wanted quality that would last, so I invested. The only problem was that it actually broke after only a few rolls! Somehow the lid just wouldn’t fit on the tank anymore and the guys at the local photography shop were somewhat confused as to how it even was possible. In the end the process of getting the tank replaced by Jobo promised to be so long and cumbersome that I bought a cheap AP tank as a replacement and since it worked flawlessly I never bothered to get the Jobo replacement after all. I now have 2 AP tanks and a Paterson three reel tank that all work with AP reels. The AP reels are easy to load, much easier than Jobo reels, but I always suspected the feed tabs of upsetting the flow of the chemicals in the tank and thereby causing uneven development. Well, after trying just about everything I can think of with my Paterson and AP tanks to get the Fuji Hunt chemicals to develop my C41 film evenly I will give Jobo another try next. With a bit of luck my C41 development problems will be solved very soon.
