Today I scanned the last 120 roll from Argentina and now the only thing left to do is edit this last batch of 10 rolls. With only 2 rolls that need to be colour corrected this shouldn’t take long and then I’m finally finished with the whole undertaking! I will of course have to make a final selection for printing, but this is obviously the most enjoyable part.

The whole project was a challenge. Shooting a whole trip on ISO 400 C41 film without the possibility to push and only a f/2.8 lens is already difficult. I shot only two rolls at ISO 1600 and only barely saved them from being fried by an airport x-ray. After returning from the trip I had to develop and scan everything myself, which is why it all took longer than expected. I only had little experience with C41 development and had committed myself to C41 chemicals that I had never used before and that were better suited for machine processing. It took a while to iron out all the problems with the development until I could finally make progress. None of it was particularly easy, but pushing myself out of my comfort zone, embracing colour and trying to get the best out of the opportunity really worked out well for me. I think I learned a lot thanks to this project and I’ve even found a new appreciation for colour. I might even shoot the next Argentina trip all on colour film again. Nevertheless, I’m glad that I’m finally reaching the end of it now and that I can finally leave behind the feeling of constantly trying to catch up with myself.
