Last week I went for a walk with a friend all the way from Bilk to the museum K20 in the “old city” (Altstadt) in Düsseldorf. Quite a hike actually! This is what I came up with photographically.

Outside my favourite café/restaurant for the moment: Frida at the Bilker Kirche. It is named after Frida Kahlo. I haven’t tried the food (allergies …!), but they serve a wicked fresh mint tea. The ginger orange tea is supposedly nice as well.

I always find it rather strange when people brush their hair in public. It seems such a private thing to me …! Well, people are rather odd about the public / private distinction. People in Spain actually go out onto the balcony in a bathrobe, which I find inconceivable for myself!
Today I will be travelling back to Berlin after having been away for quite a long time. Whenever I’m away from home for a longer period I tend to wonder whether some kind of disaster happened while I was gone. Fingers crossed that it’s just the typical paranoia and not some kind of premonition. In any case, apart from the rather more serious disasters (flooding, fire, burglary, etc.) I wonder how my plants are faring! They are spider plants, so a rather hardy species, but I doubt that they can go indefinitely without water either. Although I’m known to have a talent for killing plants it would be rather embarrassing to have killed one of those, since they are really quite hard to kill. I wouldn’t be all too surprised though. When you have two homes, chances are that neither one of them is quite a home in the sense of the deeper meaning of the word. Sorting out this situation will definitely not only benefit my plants.
These last few days in the Düsseldorf area were actually quite busy, meeting with friends, dealing with red tape, organising things, reading a lot, taking pictures, all very good though. I didn’t take any pictures on film this time despite having plans to that effect. Basically I just wasn’t in the mood and often I was just rushing from one place to another. I had the Zorki with me a couple of times, but in the end I just continued shooting with the Olympus anyway. I’ll go for a proper walk with my Zorki soon to get back into the swing of things. In Berlin I might get the chance to scan some of the rolls that I shot in San Sebastian, but quite likely I won’t have enough time to scan them all. I also plan to attempt some more repair work on my Yashica in Berlin, the outcome of which is obviously still uncertain. Between doctor’s appointments and making prints I expect to be rather busy the next two weeks as well. Then it will already be time to come back to Düsseldorf prior to flying back to Spain, where we will hopefully find a flat in April. You can already see that it’s going to be a rather busy time for me. I hope I will find the time to post some pictures as well in this time.
