Today was the last full day here in this wonderful city and I actually managed to finish off the last 3 rolls of film, because we went to see the ocean that isn’t an ocean. I’m of course talking about the “river” Rio de la Plata, which is so wide that you can’t see the other side. It was a beautiful day and the “river” looked blue like the ocean although it’s normally brown. It was just beautiful for pictures with the Rollei. Well, after this last excursion there isn’t even a single roll left, neither in 35mm nor in 120!

Although I finished all my rolls I still have a whole pack of instax minis, because I just couldn’t carry 3 cameras all the time. The Leica and the Rollei already get quite heavy when I’m carrying them together, so another camera would have been overkill. I had difficulties shooting the Rollei over here – too chaotic – but wanted to shoot all my 120 film anyway. So in the end I carried the Rollei sometimes just in case and this meant that I used the instax less than I wanted. Generally I think the Leica and the Rollei are a good combination though. In some places where it’s very crowded and chaotic the Leica is the way to go, but the Rollei is really nice in spots where there is space and enough calm to slow down and focus. Very complimentary ways of shooting actually.

Tomorrow will be all about packing and then at night we take the flight back home. We had a whole month of great weather, adventure, photography, bookshops and tango, so I’m extremely happy about how it all turned out. It’s time to go home though to develop all that film!

All pictures taken with: Leica M6 + Zeiss ZM C-Biogon 35mm f/2.8.
