home sweet home

After returning to Berlin last week I went grocery shopping and took my camera with me. Whenever I come to my neighbourhood after a lengthy stay somewhere else, I feel like leaving again right away. Berlin is a great place to visit, but I haven’t enjoyed living here much, mainly because this neighbourhood is so depressing. I’m glad I’m moving soon and in fact I’m only here for a brief visit this time as well. On Wednesday I’m leaving for Düsseldorf again.

As far as I could figure out there is a mosque and a madrasah in this building. This is also the place where lots of local wedding celebrations happen.

Since there is a retirement home across the street this is a common sight.

A companion of the man across the street. I really love that I caught the little girl while she wasn’t touching the ground.

The last few days I spent some time just relaxing, reading and recovering my strength after travelling, dealing with different expressions of red tape and organising a good deal of things. The other day I also ordered a whole bunch of prints and foamboards to mount them, and a couple of frames as well, all for my next exhibition in Cologne (I will announce it properly soon). Next week in Düsseldorf I will probably spend a considerable amount of time cutting and mounting the prints after having fulfilled all my other obligations for this visit in Germany.  It feels like a busy time and I actually enjoy it, but I also have to say that I’m looking forward to some more quiet days without the immediate prospect of travel.
