As always, if you have questions, objections, worries or praise, and especially if you found your picture and want it removed, feel free to contact me. I will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also read my full disclaimer, if you are interested.

Last year in April I was in Buenos Aires for the first time. I had dreamed about it for many years and then it finally happened. It was wonderful and I brought back 53 rolls of exposed film. Well, it’s April again and would you believe that we’re back in Buenos Aires?

So, what did I pack for such a grand transcontinental trip? I obviously brought copious amounts of Gold 200 and a pro pack of Portra 400 in 120. Additionally I also brought the last few rolls of Kodak Farbwelt 400 I found in the freezer, a pro pack of Provia 100F slide film in 120 – I got hooked after developing my first batch of slide film last month -, a single roll of Portra 160 in 120 that looked too lonely to leave behind and a few rolls of HP5+ in 35mm for backup. In gear I decided to keep things simple: I’m carrying around my usual Leica M6 and Rolleicord V combination, which is always a good team for shooting street. For the Leica I have now two lenses, the Zeiss C-Biogon 35mm f/2.8 and a really stunning Voigtländer Nokton 50mm f/1.1 which is also the reason why I didn’t worry about bringing mostly ISO 200 film. With this lens I’ve shot ISO 50 film on a rainy day, so I knew I’d be fine. Just before travelling I also realised that I had forgotten to buy a tungsten filter for the Nokton, so I also packed a mini tripod and a cable release to get some night shots too.

So far the weather hasn’t been very cooperative in the first week – hot, humid, cold, storms, all in a big jumble, preferably on the same day. Of course we both caught a cold pretty much immediately. Nevertheless I’ve still shot 16 rolls so far – with a little more than two weeks left -, 4 rolls of 120 and the rest 35mm. Last year I shot a little more in the same time, but the weather was better then and we were actually running around the city like crazy. This year we wanted to take it easy instead and so far the number of rolls shot reflects this. I’m pretty sure I’ll come back with plenty of nice pictures anyway. There are still many things to see and I obviously take one or two cameras everywhere we go.

You’re curious to see what I’m getting? Well, you’ll have to wait, since I probably won’t develop the rolls until the summer. I still have a whole other batch of C41 film lying around to develop before and many many pictures from last year still haven’t been posted.

This time I’m showing you pictures from the beginning of September. It was still warm, but most of the tourists were starting to leave, there was suddenly more space on the beach and it seemed as if the streets were frantic with playing kids, because they were just about to lose their freedom to school again.

Next time it gets exciting: I’ll be posting all the slide film I shot last year! Be prepared for punchy colours in 6×6.

All pictures taken with: Leica M6, Zeiss ZM C-Biogon 35mm f/2.8.

Lots of dogs in this selection. These days in a lot of the UK it isn’t safe to leave a dog tied up waiting for it’s owner if it’s a pedigree as they are being stolen.
    Great set of photos.

    • Thank you Julia! I guess where we live there are so many dogs that it’s rather safe to leave them tied up. Unless of course it’s an especially beautiful one. Also, outside shops during typical shopping times there will usually be someone who will watch your dog for some change.
