good boy

I almost didn’t take any of the shots I’m posting today, because I wasn’t planning on taking a camera to the Nick Cave concert. I only changed my mind last minute and if you’ve seen the concert pictures you already know how glad I am about taking the camera after all. I got some very nice pictures at the concert and the first picture of this set is one of my favourites from the whole trip. There are still 3 more colour rolls to develop, but I’m saving them until I have solved my C41 problems, because at least one of them has a lot of sky.

Part of the solution to my uneven development problem has already arrived in the mail – a new Jobo 1520 tank. Although I just confirmed that the reels are really annoying to load I’m hoping that they will allow for more even flow of chemicals in the tank. The first two rolls developed in it are already hanging to dry and it seems to be working fine, at least with HP5+. Of course I won’t be able to use my robotic agitator with this tank, because it isn’t meant for stick agitation but it the tank is ultimately meant for a bigger automation beast, a Jobo CPE-2. What better way to solve C41 development problems if not rotary processing? After all this is how C41 is meant to be developed in the first place. Don’t interpret this as a commitment to colour though – the CPE-2 can also be used to develop black and white film and should make it much easier to keep up with myself in general.

All pictures taken with: Leica M6 + Zeiss ZM C-Biogon 35mm f/2.8.
