comfortable

Yesterday we went to the cinema to see Woody Allen’s latest movie, Magic in the Moonlight, and I was actually stunned by the colours. Immediately I was thinking, wait was this shot on film? At home I looked it up and indeed, it was shot on Vision 3 Kodak film! Well, now that I know how to process C41 film I might actually see about trying to shoot some cine colour film too, since I actually have a soft spot for motion picture film. Cine colour films have of course a remjet layer, but as far as I know it can be removed quite easily. So, watch this spot, maybe you’ll get to see some shots of this quite wonderful film around here very soon. By the way, if you’re wondering how I can get hold of this film stock without ordering a whole 1000ft roll of film then I suggest you check out Nik and Trick Photo Services. Thanks to them I got to test Eastman Double X and Orwo N74+ without having to buy huge amounts of it. Definitely worth supporting!

And if you’re also wondering how the Woody Allen movie was apart from the colours? Well, I left the cinema with a smile. Everyone needs a little magic every now and then! Besides, I’m a huge fan of Woody Allen’s work. I saw every single one of his movies, apart from the one from last year which I missed somehow.

As promised, today you will get to see some colour street pictures. I have to say though that I didn’t start shooting colour to shoot street with it. Of course it might happen occasionally when I’m on my way to shoot something else, but I actually like abstracting the colour in street because it helps me focus on the stories. Hardly ever do I run into situations where I would need colour film to get the shot. Or maybe I just ignore these moments, because I don’t really see colour? In any case, if for now you get to see more colour street around here while I’m practicing colour development, I would suggest that you don’t get too used to it, since I’m not sure it’ll stick for me.

This totally wouldn’t work in black and white.

Thanks to whoever parked their bike their! I’ve tried to take this shot so many times and it’s just too unbalanced without that bike!

Also something that only works in colour. I can assure, you I tried and in black and white it’s just boring.

Ah, the pink bag is photographic gold. I probably would have tried in BW, but it wouldn’t have worked.
