a red moment

As always, if you have questions, objections, worries or praise, and especially if you found your picture and want it removed, feel free to contact me. I will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also read my full disclaimer, if you are interested.

When I was looking through my work from last year I could see that I reached a certain visual coherence despite a significant amount of experimentation on my part. The year before it seemed to me as if my switch to film photography had created so much upheaval that the thread holding it all together was lost somehow. I’m glad that I have found it again despite continuing experimentation. After 15-20 rolls I usually switch emulsions, after 100 or so rolls I switch developers and in between I throw in single experimental rolls just to see what happens. And also colour has come to play an important role in all this experimentation – would you believe that more than 30% of my rolls are actually colour film? Although of course I could stick to some of my more successful formulas to keep on pushing into the same direction, I think the experimentation keeps me on my toes and gets me outside to play, even when it’s just another grey winter day that wouldn’t amount to much without experimentation. I’m not sure how long I’ll continue to experiment like this – obviously it can only last until I’ve run out of emulsions and developers to try. However, at my current rate I should at least have another year or two left before that happens.

Traffic was madness, as always. But still a great view from that bridge.

I know, I shouldn’t shoot into the sun with a Leica … bad habit out of digital times.

This was the bridge from below. The light was fantastic!
